Selecting the Right Picture

IMAGE QUALITY - The quality of the image is good as it is an advert for a well known deoderant make and they wouldn't use amateur photography. Photoshop hasn't been used to edit the image.

INFORMATION - The information that this picture is giving us is that this "chocolate man" is very popular with girls as a pretty girl in a bikini stands next to him and is flattering him. This lynx deoderant gives the person who wears it a chocolate exterior( smell of chocolate).

EXPOSURE - Both the characters in the picture are only shown by their waste upwards as they want us to look at their facial expressions. The woman is quite revealing as she wears a bikini which contrasts to the background of what i think is an urban area.

Evaluation of School Magazine

  • I looked at the front cover of a school magazine made by a fotismere student.

  • The magazine's layout is very simple and plain. Inturn this makes it easy to read and is straight to the point. The 6 titles of articles on the front cover of the magazine are all to do with things that will interest a sixthform student such as "University Worries".

  • The title could be bigger and made more clear but is relevant as it referrs back to the name of the school, "re:FORM" and "Fortismere".

  • The idea reader of this magazine is a 6th form student with high standards and high expectations who also is looking closey into their future. It is mainly aimed at girls as we can see by the picture printed in the centre and the article at the bottom talking about "fashion" and how the magazine gives advice, "from health to boys".

  • The whole cover overall is very clear and easy to read but there is no clear relevance on your first glance that is aimed at sixth form students as the picture doesn't give us a clear indication of anything to do with sixth form and school.
